Gut's Dynamite Cabarets is an all-Japanese label from Tokyo launched five years ago by Jackal Kuzu and Cabaret Aki. They're known for their theatrics -past shows featured drag queens strutting down the runway- but they toned things down this season with their collection entitled "Bunny Rock" they showcased in Harajuku. The collection is reminiscent of tribal streetwear with a touch of panache. Plaid's the fad, as well as military-type cargo pants in army greens and blacks. They've even managed to make Capri pants look tough on a man by pairing them with printed jackets enhanced with chains and leather jackets with all the hardware. Word has it the duo was inspired by the London contemporary look : shorts combined with boots, unbotonned shirts worn on top of tees and knee-length leggings. Probably a Jap take on Western fashion but with the guts to add the androgynous touch of Asia.
