Ben Ivory's "Fly to the moon and don't go away" was the title German designer Kilian Kerner gave to this season's collection drawing inspiration from the contrast in life. Emotional worlds with their ups and downs mirrored in the design. Clear classical tailoring met lined patterns and fitted pockets. Asymmetry came about through a playful division of seams in fabrics like silk or cotton. A mash-up of slouchy shapes and more defined silhouettes for sailor dandies. Summery shorts stated the way for the fashion-conscious man and were combined with casual shirts and narrow coats. But the highlights of the men’s collection were the well-executed jackets -gray and double-breasted with the sleeves rolled up to show a yellow lining. Pants ranged from loose-fit to straight leg -with the season’s all important turn-up at the bottom. And while Kilian Kerner continued to indulge his New Wave soul in some offbeat menswear ensembles, they’re perfect for singer Ben Ivory, who performed his special remix live at the show.
