Painkiller

Painkiller is a Thai alternative menswear label from Bangkok established in 2006 by designer Siriorn Teankaprasith and her two brothers, Poomsak Teankaprasith, an architect and Terawat Teankaprasith, an illustrator -who drew the current Valentine's Day tee-shirts mini-collection. Painkiller’s concept, "less is more" describes their minimalist instincts. It's not overly masculine, neither too feminine, nor trend-following. This season's collection, titled "Best friend", was inspired by a 1950s short story by M.R. Kukrit Pramoj about the true friendship between a dog and its master. The silhouettes recall the men's looks during the first years of internationalization, when men were forced to wear European clothes for work and kept colorful tropical garments for home. The collection claims to be a mash-up of these styles. Thai-inspired cut blazers are donned over traditional Oxford shirts paired with vibrant silk pants. Piping details of Thai costumes were borrowed to enhance the pockets. Possibly vintage pieces for the future.
