Tim Soar

"Mr Newton" is the name of this season's collection, titled after David Bowie's character in "The man who fell to Earth", landing as he did at the nexus between the Seventies and New Wave utilitarianism -what Tim Soar described in his notes as "the essence of modern menswear". The wardrobe in the film exemplified the excesses of the 1970s -big flares, wide lapels and long lines. And like Bowie, there was an androgynous feel, interspersing women's looks with some pieces direct takes on the male versions -which themselves resembled dresses- as part of Tim Soar's "She : Him" project. The collection was exceptionally well tailored, great technical detail with the undergarments and sportswear. Tailoring met technical, including a denim life preserver and diving shoes, while cargo pants and tailored stonewash jeans were slim and smart and jackets were belted with fabric. A cinch to please his supporters, and why not you too ?
