The glass and steel façade of the Elie Tahari Design Center at 510 Fifth Avenue designed by Gordon Bunschaft in 1953 was the foundation for this season's collection. The urban silhouettes also drew inspiration from mid-century modern architecture on the streets of New York City. The simplification of form in Mies van der Rohe's Seagram Building or Bunschaft's Lever House was fairly referenced throughout the collection.
With a brand new suit licensee, Elie Tahari has a fast-growing men's business and this lineup showed it off well. Everything was charcoal or black, sometimes with tonal checks, and in textures that looked soft and expensive. The combinations of tailoring and outerwear came across as urbane and sharp, yet young and easy.
