Adam Kimmel makes his clothes an event as much a collection, often collaborating with other American visionaries, inviting interesting and attractive friends to model, or even blowing up the whole thing into a gorgeous piece of filmic cowboy art. This season Mr K worked with painter George Condo, taking inspiration from Condo’s 007 lifestyle (he summers in Monte Carlo and gambles at the Ritz) as well as his artwork, so it helps to imagine the artist sitting at the roulette table in a deep velvet blazer and plush slip-ons, puffing on a freshly rolled Cohiba. The resulting masks crafted by Gabe Bartalos (a Hollywood prosthetic artist best known for his work with Matthew Barney) for his collection were a hilarious foil to all the impeccable menswear. Peep the full roll call of players, including Superdude and Albert Bino, and marvel at the erm, pointed placement of their anatomy. In actuality, a relatively simple collection of double-breasted velvet suits, some simple slacks, scarves, jackets and jeans. Sporadically embellished with poker references and playing card symbols, the collection is designed for the simpleton who likes a bit of gambling.
