Ann Demeulemeester

Ann Demeulemeester has always been a little bit of a romantic though she had always been very modernistic in her outlook. In this collection, she found the perfect balance for her aesthetics and by doing so she had created a new vision that could easily spearhead a new movement for men’s fashion. It seems that the Belgian designer is not immune to the dark and brooding appeal of gothic vampires as she sent 3-piece suits, jackets and capes in black or beige that even Dracula himself would love to wear. These are clothes that are rough and refined and a jumble of textures. An army of black suits cut slim in the legs and gathered high at the waist but then paired with big drapey overcoats and worn with military-inspired boots and thick furs, as well as feather collars and boas. Just the kinds of flourishes rocker-poet chicks dig in their men. You typically don’t see men flaunting thick furs or feather boas, but if you’re one of Ann Demeulemeester’s men, you’re dripping in them. The current collection has far too many highlights to count : high, bunched waist slacks with a tapered leg, matte leather blazers, military style boots, draped overcoats and chain and leather belts were just some of the impeccable elements. And as per usual, I heart Ann Demeulemeester.
