For this season, Croatian-born German designer Damir Doma created a collection that proved once again why he's held in such high regard, while the silhouettes are every changing, and he is able to create slim and layered looks just as easy as each other. The signature draping makes him the stand-out menswear designer moving into a new decade. Even the show itself took the viewers into a new world, the ability for a designer to use such techniques but remain masculine in his approach is unique and set to take the world by storm. There is always softness in Damir Doma’s creations, but it is not effeminate. What it evokes is a soothing and calming feeling. And in this collection, DD did not disappoint his clients as he sent out rounded and softened drapery forms on mujik-style trousers then mixed it with the Asian sarouel / Indian dhoti, sending everyone to a spiritual journey to find balance with nature. There is a pronounced lack of ornaments, and if there are any zippers, snaps or buttons, they are well hidden. Outerwear and jackets have an Asian bent, a mixture of the Japanese kimono, the Chinese tunic, even the Malaysian baju melayu. Awesome !
