Tim Hamilton Redux

Tim Hamilton may show his eponymous collection in Paris, but he maintains a New York presence with his diffusion line Redux presented at Milk Studios, sporty menswear that combines elements from the designer’s all-American archives with an emphatic nod to streetwear. While last year's début was just fifteen pieces, this sophomore effort runs the gamut from outerwear to elongated knits to denim. Electric blues, blacks and browns –all Hamilton standards–dominated. Clearly the designer’s adventures in Europe have influenced his sensibilities. The carrot-top pants seen at Etro, Dolce & Gabbana and Dries van Noten popped up here as well. So did cotton pants with a drop-crotch, slouchy thigh and tapered leg. Active-wear influences abound in jersey and nylon, echoing Gaultier and Marc Jacob’s casual male for Louis Vuitton. Redux is sourced and produced in Japan, a move that complements Iowa native Hamilton’s embrace of the international club kid. It may also have accounted for the oversize Noguchi-inspired light sphere in the center of the room.
